Paddling to the World Stage

Over the break, learners Henry Raheke-Fariu and Christine Raheke-Fariu proudly represented their club and community while competing in a range of regional, national, and international Waka Ama events.

Their commitment to training, discipline, and teamwork was evident throughout the competition season with some consistant and successful results. Both of them have qualified for 2026 IVF World Sprint Club Championships in Singapore.

Vaka Eiva – Rarotonga 2025

Henry– Come back with 4 medals (1x Gold/1x Silver/2x Bronze)
Christine – Come back with 5 medals (3x Gold, 2x Silver)

2025 Auckland Regionals

Christine – W1 500m Bronze (Made Waka Ama Sprint Nationals quota)
Christine – W1 250 Dash Silver (Made Waka Ama Sprint Nationals quota)

Waka AMA Sprint Nationals 2026

Both Christine & Henry along with there club have qualified to represent Pineula Inc this August in Singapore (2026 IVF World Sprint Club Championships).
Christine – W6 500m Bronze
Christine – W6 1000m 4th
Henry – W12 500m Gold

We commend Henry and Christine for their dedication and for representing Alfriston College, their club, region and country with pride on a wider stage.
